WHAT IS PORSCHE BOXSTER RACING?
The Porsche Boxster class is part of the Pirelli Porsche NZ race series and is the largest Porsche race team in New Zealand with 20+ cars lined up to compete in the 2023 / 2024 series. It has quickly grown in popularity as it is an affordable class and makes the dream of racing a reality for many who thought they could not afford it.

HISTORY OF THE BOXSTER CLASS
Over the last 20 years, Luke McClunie has been involved with the Porsche Club Race series, maintaining and supporting numerous championship winning cars.
The last nine years have seen this intensify and the team grow to include Cameron McCormack (class Champion), who has brought with him a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion to LM Racing
We could see that the race series needed to attract more drivers and that an entry level class was missing. One of the series drivers, Tony Houston had brought in a speced Boxster from the USA. The standard Boxster is an affordable car that could easily be modified from a road car into a race car. After another driver, Chris Barendregt threatened to buy a BMW M3 and compete in the Targa Tour, we pitched the idea of the Boxster class. As a leader at PwC, Chris is a man who knows when the numbers look good on paper and he was quick to respond with a ‘let’s do it’.
A number of other drivers then jumped in, and quickly the new Class F was established for the 2020/2021 Pirelli Porsche Race series.
Seven drivers competed over the first season, and the success of the class has seen that grow to 20+ in the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
LM built cars and drivers have won every Championship since the start of the Boxster Class.
